Having started his own family, he and his beautiful wife have three kids who all have high prescriptions and have been treated with glasses and contacts. Thankfully their dad is an eye doctor. In his spare time, Dr. Hayes enjoys going on adventures with family, wood-working, and playing volleyball, basketball, and baseball.

Colin S. Hunsaker, OD

Growing up on a farm in Tremonton, UT, Dr. Hunsaker loves the small-town feel and way of life. Coming to Moab feels like coming home.

The need for vision correction was a constant in his family growing up. In a family where every person needs glasses, trips to the optometrist were common as a child and teen. This is where Dr. Hunsaker’s interest in eyes and their care began.

After graduating high school, he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. Upon arriving home, he completed undergraduate work at Brigham Young University, majoring in neuroscience. Dr. Hunsaker then attended optometry school at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. While there, he was involved in various clubs and leadership positions that enhanced his experiences and made him learn more than he could have imagined about the art and science of optometry. He completed various externships giving him unique experience in pediatric optometry and ocular disease. Before working in Moab, he worked as an associate doctor in Southwestern Virginia.

When not working, he loves to work with wood, read, write, watch movies, and be with his family. Dr. Hunsaker and his wife, Alisha, are the parents of three daughters and two sons.
